The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life ✠ everlasting. Amen.

  • Teaches us who the God of the Bible is (Dt 6:4; Mt 16:16)
  • Teaches us that God is one God in Three Persons (Gen 1:1–3; Ps 33:6; Jn 1:1–3; Mt 28:19)
  • Teaches us what the Triune God has done for us
  • Teaches us that God the Father created all things (Gen 1:1; Heb 11:3)
  • Teaches us that God the Son, Jesus Christ, has become man and died for our sins and was also raised from the dead for us (Rom 4:23–25; 1 Cor 15:3–4)
  • Teaches us that God the Holy Spirit delivers the salvation accomplished by Jesus to us in the Church through the means of grace. (Rom 10:14–17, Acts 16:14; Tit 3:5–6, Acts 2:38; Jn 20:22–23)
